I came to Chapelli’s without many expectations of the place considering the mixed reviews I was reading up about the place. Despite the limited menu, I found myself very pleased with the quality of service and food I encountered at this 24 hour Italian restaurant and cafe in South Yarra. This only reinforces one thing about trying new places for me. Always try it before you knock it because you never know when you’ll be in for a good surprise.
This brings me to my next point. Welcome to my next Entertainment book voucher adventure.
Le Boy and I were attended by a lovely waitress and friendly staff all night. Complimentary bread and butter is provided before the meal which paired perfectly with the pasta cravings we had that night.
Gnocchi with roasted pumpkin $21.00
Green peas, in a light cream sauce and toasted pine nuts
I am subject to bias when any gnocchi or pasta dish is done correctly and this gnocchi dish just made my heart happy. Serving was just the right amount, the gnocchi pillowy soft and the creamy sauce just perfect. Not too creamy but thick enough to coat the gnocchi pieces with enough flavour to make your taste buds sing with delight at
Fettucine carbonara $19.00
Bacon, garlic, cream, parmesan cheese sauce and finished with egg
Pasta cooked al dente in a creamy but not heavy carbonara sauce. Well seasoned to our liking in quite an addictive fashion. Portion size was reasonable and for the average person just right, while some may say that there wasn’t enough. It definitely felt that there was more gnocchi than fettucine.
Chapelli’s 24 hour Italian restaurant and cafe provides a service that is quick and attentive. Food arrives in a timely manner and is tasty. Best of all they open 24 hours. It’s definitely a place Le Boy and I would come back again if we were in need for a late night feed or when in the area.
