When you’re flooded with uni assignments and finding yourself meeting up more regularly with your mates to work on a group assignment, the last thing on your mind is anything remotely close to eating healthy. But when you’re hungry, you’ve still gotta eat right? Not more than a 5 minutes walk away from the apartment we were, was a local take away pizza shop. Dial A Gino’s on Glen Eira Rd in Elsternwick.
At a glance, you’d wonder if such a place will attract many customers at all. But considering it’s the closest thing nearby which offers pizza or hot food delivered to your door, you will find like I did that the place does get busy, especially later in the night. We decided to take a break one Friday evening from working on our group presentations to come here for dinner.
Small vegetarian pizza, no olives & extra spinach $9.15
I ordered the vegetarian pizza without olives and extra spinach and was surprised by the quality of the pizza. Served on a traditional crust and loaded with heaps of toppings almost to the edge, I was more than happy with my order and very satisfied by the service. As we were dining in, I was able to ask for some BBQ sauce to eat with my pizza and the guys behind the counter were happy to oblige.
The large pizza was also pretty good.
Ribs and wings combo
The ribs were a bit on the dry side while the wings were only seasoned by the BBQ sauce.
Would I object to coming back here again if the need arises for another late night feed? When you are served by friendly staff with good food in a timely manner? No, not at all. Just don’t order the ribs and wings and stick to the pizza.
