When Uzu closed down, I was devastated. It was my go to sushi place in the Caulfield area around the Monash University. But they didn’t completely close down. If anything Uzu has moved and joined up with Restore Cafe Bar to bring you both a Japanese dining experience at a cafe (along with the standard cafe meal options). And that’s why, they now have a Japanese menu. The sushi selection is not the same, but at least their ordering menu options have increased.
I wouldn’t recommend the deserts, they don’t look that great for the price you pay for. But the Japanese curry, katsu don and takoyaki are a must try. The location is much more spacious than what Uzu was able to offer their customers. And because a lot of people still don’t really know about the place, it doesn’t get too busy during lunch times.
Tofu katsu don $11.50
All positives aside, they did mess up one of my orders. I was served a chicken katsu don instead of tofu despite being making myself very clear when I was placing the order, but they rectified that.
